Our #LiveRed Campaign is encouraging women to be BOLD in their Red Lipstick to benefit the Red Thread Movement.
The Red Thread Movement is
an Eternal Threads partnership with K.I Nepal to combat human
trafficking and modern-day slavery. Their mission is divided into three parts:
- Provides Fair Trade wages for rescued girls
- Additional funds support border units and safe houses.
- Generates awareness of the global human rights crimes of human trafficking, forced labor and sexual slavery.
The Red Thread Company
sells $3 handmade bracelets crafted by girls in Nepal rescued from human trafficking. Sex trafficking is often allowed to continue
without consequences and is gaining momentum worldwide. The Napal/Indian border claims nearly 12,000 victims
annually. Because of the low status, insufficient education, and poverty, the
girls are at greater risk of being trafficked in Nepal.
The Red Thread Movement
focuses on three areas of impact to help these girls avoid human trafficking:
- work to create employment for at-risk-girls
- Send proceeds to support anti-trafficking work
- Against sex trafficking all over the world
As people wear the Red Thread
bracelets all over the world, they are spreading awareness to others and showing their support against modern slavery. Pura Vida is about empowering women and is joining The Red Thread Movement in their fight against modern slavery.
